Hi! I am a third year PhD student at Georgia Institute of Technology. I am running 2018 Publix Georgia Half Marathon, Atlanta to raise funds for Asha for Education, a fully volunteer-run non-profit organization which supports projects in India involved in education and vocational training of underprivileged children and women.
I have been part of Asha for over two years now and have been amazed by the extraordinary impact it makes. Being a fully volunteer-run organization, the overheads are less than 2%. The NGOs (non-government, non-profit organizations) funded by Asha are constantly monitored and scrutinized by volunteers like me to make sure that all the donations are utilized appropriately and effectively. Please visit http://ashanet.org/ and http://atlanta.ashanet.org/our-projects/ to know more about the projects we support.
The running team at Asha (Atlanta) has been a primary driving force in making me take up running as a hobby. With support and training from these wonderful people, I feel ready for the race-day on March 18.
I will be highly grateful if you can support me (and Asha at large) in this step towards helping these children realize their dreams and bringing education to their lives. No donation is small. Every penny counts!
