“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” – Benjamin Franklin.
I am a third year PhD student at Georgia Tech. I firmly believe that education is the most important factor in development of human capital which involves economic and social aspects of human life. While the world of technology in past decade or so has brought numerous disruptions and unparalleled growth, importance of education in that aspect has increased even further because the requirement of skills and knowledge changes rapidly. But in this rapidly changing world, imagine what would happen to some of our brothers and sisters who do not even have access to basic educational facilities? I believe if we want to create more equitable society then everybody should have access to good quality education and any affirmative action in that direction is responsibility of people who want to make a difference.
Asha for education is volunteer run organization which raises funds for non-profit projects aimed at educating the underprivileged children in India. Asha volunteers actually visit projects sights every year to track the progress of individual projects. Their fantastic work has inspired me to run for this cause and I will be running Publix half marathon in 2018.
All the funds raised go towards projects without any administrative cuts for Asha itself (since it is a volunteer run organization). No donation is small, every penny counts! Thank you for supporting Asha for Education.”
